Parent & Player Code of Conduct

Draft

This page is a working draft and has not yet been reviewed by Shadow Cats' program leadership. Don't treat it as final until this notice is removed.

Shadow Cats is a youth program first. Every player, parent, and guardian is expected to help keep it a place kids want to come back to — on the floor, in the stands, and online.

Players

  • • Follow coaches' instructions and show up ready to play — on time, with the right gear.
  • • Play hard and play fair. Box is a physical game; that's not the same as playing dirty.
  • • Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials with respect, win or lose.
  • • No fighting, taunting, profanity, or intentionally dangerous play.

Parents & Guardians

  • • Cheer for effort and improvement, not just outcomes — and cheer for every kid on the floor, not just your own.
  • • Let coaches coach. Feedback and concerns go to a coach or the program directly, not shouted from the stands mid-session.
  • • No confronting officials, coaches, or other players' families.
  • • When posting about Shadow Cats on social media, keep it positive and avoid sharing another family's player's injuries, personal details, or a bad moment without their okay.

If Something Goes Wrong

Most issues get handled with a conversation between a coach and the player or family involved. For anything more serious — repeated disrespect, unsafe play, or conduct that puts others at risk — the program may issue a warning, a suspension from sessions, or in the most serious cases ask a player or family to leave the program. Shadow Cats' coaching staff and program leadership make that call.

Fees already paid are handled under the Refund & Cancellation Policy in the event of a dismissal.
