Privacy Policy

Last updated September 2, 2026

Shadow Cats Box Lacrosse ("Shadow Cats," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit shadowcatsboxla.com, register a player, or contact us, and how we use and safeguard it.

Please read it carefully. By using this website you agree to the practices described below.

COPPA

Our forms are for parents and guardians.

Shadow Cats serves players in grades K–12, so the information we hold is largely about children. Our registration and contact forms are intended to be completed by a parent or legal guardian — not directly by a child under 13. Full detail is in Children's Privacy below.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us when you register a player

Our registration form is completed by a parent or guardian and asks for:

  • • The player's first and last name, date of birth, gender, grade division, and prior lacrosse experience
  • • The parent or guardian's name, relationship to the player, email address, and phone number
  • • An emergency contact name and phone number
  • • Which season and package you are interested in, how you heard about us, and any notes you choose to add

Information you give us when you contact us

If you email us or use a contact form, we receive your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to write to us.

Account information

If we create an account for you — for example for a coach or program administrator — we store the name and email address on that account and a securely hashed version of the password. We never store passwords in a readable form.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours may record basic technical information such as browser type, pages visited, and general geographic region. This is looked at in aggregate and is not used to identify individual visitors.

What we do not collect. We do not take payment information through this website — there is no checkout here, and program payment is arranged separately. We also do not collect government identification numbers or medical records through this site.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use what you submit only to run the program:

  • • To respond to your inquiry or request
  • • To process a registration, place a player in the right grade division, and confirm a session
  • • To reach a parent, guardian, or emergency contact about a session, a schedule change, or an incident at the box
  • • To send you information about Shadow Cats programs, sessions, and events

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA Notice)

Shadow Cats is a youth lacrosse program serving players in grades K–12, and we take the privacy of children seriously.

Our registration and contact forms are intended for use by parents and guardians, not directly by children under the age of 13. Where we hold information about a child, it is because a parent or guardian provided it to us when enrolling that child in the program. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, in accordance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

A child's information is used only to run the program that child is enrolled in. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not disclose it to third parties beyond the limited circumstances in section 4.

A parent or guardian may review the information we hold about their child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it and stop collecting more. Email shadowcatsboxla@gmail.com and we will act on it. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, contact us at that address and we will delete it promptly.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We share it only in these limited circumstances:

  • • With Shadow Cats coaches and program staff, solely to answer your question or to coordinate your player's participation
  • • With service providers who operate parts of this site on our behalf — our web host, our email provider, and similar vendors. They may handle your information only to provide that service to us
  • • Where required by law, court order, or another legal obligation
  • • To protect the rights, safety, or property of Shadow Cats, our players, or the public

When you submit a registration, the details are stored in our database and a notification is emailed to the program inbox so a coordinator can follow up. That email travels through our email provider in the ordinary course of delivery.

5. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our site uses cookies — small text files stored on your device. Some are necessary for the site to work at all: they keep your session secure while you fill in a form and protect our forms against abuse. Without them, registration would not function.

We may also use aggregate analytics to understand how the site is used, which can set cookies of its own. These are not used to build a profile of you.

You can control or disable cookies in your browser settings. Disabling them may stop parts of the site — including the registration form — from working properly.

6. Storage, Security, and Retention

We take reasonable measures to protect the information you share with us. Site traffic is encrypted in transit, access to registration records is limited to program staff who need it, and account passwords are stored only as secure hashes. No method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Messages sent through a contact form are kept only as long as needed to answer you.

Registration records are kept while a player is involved with the program and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that we have a record of who participated and can welcome a returning family back without asking for everything again. You can ask us to delete a record sooner — see section 8.

7. Photos and Video

Photographs and video are sometimes taken at Shadow Cats sessions and events and may appear on this website or our social media. Full detail on what we capture, what we don't publish, and how to opt out is on our Photo & Video Consent page.

8. Links to Other Sites

This site links to sites we do not control — including social media platforms such as Instagram, and the Dallas OilCats program site. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or their content. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit from here.

9. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • • Ask what personal information we hold about you or your child
  • • Ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate
  • • Ask us to delete it
  • • Opt out of program emails at any time

Email shadowcatsboxla@gmail.com to exercise any of these and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on a request about a child's record — that check protects your family, not us.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any change is posted on this page with a new "last updated" date at the top, so you can tell at a glance whether anything has moved. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.

11. Contact Us

Questions about this policy, or about the information we hold on your family? We would rather you asked.
